Kosovo Environmental Program: Roundtable Discussion on Water and Gender
FCG Sweden is implementing the four-year Sida financed Kosovo Environmental Programme (KEP) framework which aims to increase the capacity of central, regional and local stakeholders in environmental monitoring and management, as well as the water sector. More specifically the Program will assist relevant stakeholders in the implementation of environmental legislation, which aims to be in compliance with EU directives and help Kosovo on its path towards EU accession.
As one of the many activities, FCG Sweden, together with its partners, organized a roundtable discussion on the importance of gender when discussing water issues. The primary discussion points included: why and how water projects affect and benefit men and women differently; different roles and division of labour in relation to water resources of women, men, girls and boys, and why to consider social aspects like smart economics and human rights in water resources.
