Final Evaluation of ANAFE (African Network for Agroforestry Education) and ZAP (Zambian Agroforestry Project)
ANAFE is a networking program launched in 1993 for supporting the development and inclusion of agro-forestry subjects in research and curriculum development, primarily at university and college level throughout most regions in Africa. The program is coordinated from ICRAF headquarters in Nairobi and has impacted on a number of research and extension programs in the countries who are members of the network. ZAP has been on-going since the 1980’s and is based in the research and extension service in Chipata, Eastern Province, Zambia. The agro-forestry innovations developed and screened there are then further tested on farms and disseminated to small farmers. Since 2000, the program has had a direct impact on agro-forestry innovations being screened and disseminated to an estimated 400,000 farmers in Malawi and Mozambique.
