Food Security through Improved Agricultural Productivity in Western Kenya
The Food Security through Improved Agricultural Productivity in Western Kenya forms part of a joint programme implemented by German Financial and Technical Cooperation through KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW) and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which constitutes a key element of the future bilateral cooperation between Kenya and Germany in the agreed priority area of agriculture and rural development. A total of EUR 17 million to be contributed through KfW on IDA loan terms has been earmarked for FSIAP/WK. The programme covers the following components:
· Development of smallholder, community-managed irrigation schemes,
· Complementary soil and water conservation measures,
· Development of basic economic infrastructure such as markets and rural roads.
