Senior Consultant/Project Manager
Åke Sahlin is a senior consultant at FCG Sweden (previously SIPU International) since 2003, responsible for major programmes and short-term assignments with a particular focus on civil society capacity development, project cycle management as well as organization and management development.
Since 1985, Åke has participated as a senior consultant in international projects and assignments. During more than three decades of fulltime engagement in the development co-operation sector he has acquired substantial experiences of sector reform and institutional capacity development including civil society capacity building. He has been responsible for major programmes and assignments as well as project cycle management interventions in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa. Åke has undertaken various capacity building interventions for membership organisations and NGOs. Presently, he is the project director of a major EU funded civil society capacity building project (TACSO), an intervention supporting CSOs in eight EU accession countries. This eight-year intervention has a budget of approx 25 million Euros and some 25 permanent project staff members.
Åke has extensive experience of working as a manger. He was the Managing Director of ÅF-International during the period 1997-2003. The role as MD of a subsidiary within a major business corporation (listed on the Stockholm stock exchange) provided him with substantial experiences of modern management practices. Acting s a representative of the AF-group Sahlin was also a Member of the Board of several companies and organizations.
